Learning 321:

Learning 321: Education for the 3rd decade of the 21st Century:

Children who are studying at School today will be adults ready for further education or to face the world in the years from 2020 to 2030 and beyond.

This is the 3rd decade of the 21st Century and is a very different world from the one experienced by their grandparents, parents and teachers.

Their future is being shaped by two major forces: the 4th Industrial Age driven by Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning and allied technologies like the Internet of Things, Blockchain, 3D Printing, AR and VR, and the 4th education revolution which is disrupting the traditional education model, propelled by the same technologies.

Trying to accurately predict the future is futile. We must develop foresight and ready ourselves  by being a pro-active self directed lifelong learner and defensively by building skills of critical thinking and discernment to prevent us from being swayed by misinformation.

This 5 day WhatsApp course is for young learners, their parents and teachers to give them a glimpse of how the future is evolving and how best to prepare for it.

The proposed title of the sessions are:

1: Why Learning 321?

2: Self-learning… the key to future success

This course is offered  on the 3rd  week ( Monday to Friday ) of every month.

The methodology that we  follow for the weeklong program is described below.

A separate WhatsApp group will be created for each course.

On the scheduled dates at a time slot to be shared within the course group, all members may open the group, and I will make my posts.

If this time slot doesn’t suit you, don’t worry. These posts will be there for you to view and hear at your convenience. In that sense, this is a-synchronous communication. These posts will be mainly in the form of images of PowerPoint slides, followed by my audio messages, much like that in a face to face PowerPoint talk. The difference is that whereas in a traditional lecture, the speaker makes the oral comments after every slide ( because only one slide can be on the screen at a time), here I may make my oral comments after a group of 2 to 4 slides.

You may make your queries or observations as they occur to you. If I can give a brief response right then without distracting from the flow of the narrative, I would do so, else I would consolidate them and then post them to the group later.

About 10 minutes before the start of the session, I will post a message in the group to the effect that we are about to start in 10 minutes. And after the session is over, I will share the entire set of slides as a PDF with the group. The same flow will be repeated for each of the 5 days.

I hope this describes the process in sufficient detail.

If you have any questions, you may send them to me directly, if they may not interest to the whole group, or you may ask them in the group itself.
